What to expect

Venturing gives teens real responsibility in a safe, supervised setting. Here's how the crew works and how we keep members safe.

Safety first

  • All adult leaders are registered, background-checked and trained in Scouting America's Youth Protection program.
  • At least two registered adults are present at every activity, and there is no one-on-one contact between adults and youth.
  • Trips follow Scouting America's Guide to Safe Scouting, including training requirements for activities like swimming, climbing and paddling.

Forms you'll need

  • Youth application to register with Scouting America (we'll help).
  • Annual Health and Medical Record: Parts A & B for all members. Part C (a physical) is needed for longer trips and high adventure.
  • Permission slips for each trip, sent ahead of time.

Forms and packing lists are in the members area.

Costs

Members pay the annual Scouting America registration fee plus the cost of individual trips. Monthly meetings are free. We keep costs low and are happy to talk privately about financial help.

[Add current fee amounts and crew dues here.]

Getting involved

Adults can help as registered advisors, drivers, trip chaperones or members of the crew committee. If you have outdoor skills, a profession to share or just some time, we'd love to hear from you.
