About us
A brand-new crew with big plans
Crew 312 started in 2026 with five founding members. We're still choosing our focus, and new members get a real say in where we go.
What is Venturing?
Venturing is Scouting America's program for young men and women ages 14–20 (or 13 and finished 8th grade). A Venturing group is called a crew. Crews are youth-led: members elect their own officers, plan their own activities and take turns leading, with adult advisors coaching from the side.
Venturing is built on four ideas: adventure, leadership, personal growth andservice. Along the way, Venturers can earn the Venturing, Discovery, Pathfinder and Summit awards.
Our crew
We meet one friday each month, 7:30–9:00 pm at St. Paul & the Redeemer Episcopal Church in Hyde Park–Kenwood. We're figuring out what kind of crew we want to be, and we plan to try a little of everything this year: hiking, camping, paddling, climbing and service around Chicago.
Our big goal is at least one high adventure trip every year. Someday we'd like to go to one of Scouting America's national high adventure bases: Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico, Northern Tier in Minnesota and Canada, Florida Sea Base, or the Summit Bechtel Reserve in West Virginia.
Crew leadership
Youth officers run the crew. Adult advisors make sure it's safe and supported.

Our partners
St. Paul & the Redeemer Episcopal Church is our chartered organization. SPR sponsors the crew, gives us a place to meet and shares our commitment to developing young leaders. You don't have to be a member of the parish to join.
We're part of the Pathway to Adventure Council (PTAC), which serves Scouting in Chicago, northwest Indiana and the surrounding area. PTAC runs camps and trainings and connects us with other crews.
